It seems like blasphemy to propose a Nightmare on Elm Street movie without Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger. The producers of this series reboot bailed themselves out by nabbing Jackie Earle Haley to play the scarred killer. Even for those who didn't care for Watchmen, Haley was the one bright spot as Rorschach. But regardless of who is playing him, can Krueger recapture audience's imaginations in an era of horror focused less on iconic killers and more on disturbing torture and moral uncertainty?
